Ramblings and Week to Come (09JUN13)

Thank you:
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's taken the time to stop by and comment on my blog. I've been feeling a little down in real life but reading your nice words has really helped perk me up.

Fitness:
I ran my first 5K yesterday with a group of friends and it was so much fun! Well, actually when I say "ran," I mean "walked" but either way it was under an hour plus celebratory breakfast afterward. My friends and I are also talking about trying kayaking and rock climbing. What outdoorsy/sporty activities do you like to do? Meanwhile our new softball season started. Yep, we're back! I missed our first game but it was apparently a handy victory. I'm really excited to go back out on the field this week and am hoping to get another hit.

Reading/Blogging:
I'm back to work after my time in Hawaii and I was really happy to return but am already disappointed in the lack of reading time I've had. I'm quite behind but am trying to catch up-we'll see how that goes. Commenting has also been slow but I'm hoping to put in some quality time today-there's just so much I want to do and not enough time to pack everything in! I also need to work on some reviews and I don't think I've updated my review archive at all this year so it would be great to get at least a few weeks linked properly.

Week to Come:
Anthem of Jackson Dawes by Celia Bryce-British YA contemporary
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell-a must-read for fans of Eleanor and Park
Perfect Scoundrels by Ally Carter-concluding the Heist Society trilogy in style
Deviant by Helen FitzGerald-for Precious Gem Blog Tours
Witch Fire by Laura Powell-sequel to underappreciated Burn Mark
The Sword Dancer by Jeannie Lin-the new romance novel from this talented author

  2. I hope things get better for you! I have never been an outdoorsy person unfortunately. I'm also not very "sporty". I should work on that!

Your comment on updating your review archive reminded me that I need to do the same. I think I haven't updated that page since September...

I hope you get caught up on your reading. I am eager to read your review of Attachments. My book group will be reading Eleanor & Park next month.

    1. It's only in the past year that I've been more sporty/outdoorsy-such a change from how I used to be!

Still haven't gotten around to doing any review updating although that is again a goal for this weekend.

  3. Wow, I am soo not an outdoors person at all. I hope you have a blast, it all sounds pretty exciting. Next week sounds really good. :)

    1. I'm not really an outdoors person either but it's growing on me and it's fun when you're doing an activity with your friends.

  4. The only outdoors stuff I do is try to take a brisk walk 4-5 days a week. It does help with losing or maintaining one's weight. Congrats on trying to be more healthy. I read your review of Sommerset Abbey (I hope I spelled that right). The cover totally pulled me in, but based on your review, it doesn't sound like my cup of tea. Thanks for going into such detail! Oh! And you're smarter than me. I totally didn't see that ending coming in The Eternity Cure. Awesome!

    1. I'm a big walker now too-it really helps to live in an area with lovely weather!

  5. I used to run and loved it. But for the past few years an old knee injury has been bothering me when I run. I have been meaning to try alternating walking with running and see how that goes. I want to get a running leash for my dog so he can go with me.

Looking forward to hearing about Attachments!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics

    1. I've had so many people in my life with knee injuries from running-it makes me glad I was never very athletic as a kid. All I had was myopia from genetics and reading a lot, sometimes in poor light.

  6. aw, I'm sorry to hear you've been a little down lately. *HUGS* to you! I'm super happy for your run/walk achievement. Kayaking is a lot of fun (though rock climbing sounds terrifying—I don't like heights!)

    1. Thank you for the hug-I'm feeling a lot better now. It helped just to share that I had been feeling down.

  7. I kayaked once, it was too slow for me. I like white water rafting and walking when it comes to outside activities. Love your picture of thank you in so many languages! I hope you feel better this week!

    1. I'm worried kayaking might be too slow for me too but if I'm with my friends, it should still be fun. My week was loads better-thanks for the well-wishes!

  8. I completely understand what you mean about feeling a little down and having people help you up in unexpected ways. I've been in a bit of the same boat myself lately. I really put a lot of time into my blog so it's always nice that someone takes the time to comment.

Congrats on your 5K :) I always walk when I participate in them as well...I usually take my dog and it's difficult to run with a beagle, lol.

    1. I do still get really excited whenever I see there's a comment in my inbox-I feel so blessed to have "met" all you bookish people :)

I saw some people out with their dogs-so cute to see. If I had a dog, I'd want a beagle.

  9. Ooh, it sounds like you've been busy, girly! I wish I could do a 5k. #unfitteen #imworkingonit All the books you plan on reading/publishing reviews? this next week sound great! I hope that you get some more time soon, and that your job is awesome! (:

  10. I hope you have brighter, happy days ahead! :)

You sound like you've been quite busy! My idea of outdoorsy activity, unfortunately, consists of walking around my yard, or sitting on the porch with a book. :S You put me to shame! ;)

    1. Usually with summer, I have more time but that is just not the case this year. Still I will keep at the commenting and hope to catch up some time! Love your blog so of course will continue to comment as I can.

  12. So cool to see the PGBT link in your post. It makes me feel all official!

I'm am not an outdoors person, mainly because I'm fair and freckled, which means the sun is my enemy. I can put on 100 SPF sunscreen, reapply, and still get burned. I wasn't made to live in Southern California (at least during the summer), so I guess you could say my outdoor activity is finding shade. I do like to be outdoors--I just have to do it under the protection of a hat or umbrella or a tree.

And all exercising is done within the safety of my gym.

  13. Congratz on the 5K! Gah I don't do anything much outdoorsy, I envy people who do! I still need to read Burn Mark, it looks really good and I had it for review, but unfortunately it archived before I was able to get to it! I'm much more careful about archive dates now :/

I hope you love all your books and feel better! Have a great week :)
